Andy is carrying a Smartcare GPS units (pictured left), a combined mobile phone and personal safety device.

The Smartcare’s are highly configurable.  For the purpose of this test they are configured to send location information back to base every 10 mins in order to balance the need for sufficient information required to view the location and based on travel at cycling pace, and also to maximise the available battery power (~4 days).

To demonstrate the privacy capabilities and highlight the data sensitivities, the Smartcare’s were restricted to only report their location between 5am and 10pm daily, which allows an opportunity to go for a pint before closing time!
